I think the tension there is fine but how the people treated each other is what made it so juvenile. Ironically I think Carver would serve his role of being a military leader better without being a stupid asshole about it. Seriously, if they remake DS3 they either need to cut him out entirely or change him drastically.

Isaac never comments that he shouldn't listen to them. Of course also, he then was portrayed as dumb enough to try betray Isaac and Carver to Danik for ''Ellie's safety'' despite knowing that The Circle killed the rest of EarthGov's soldiers, why would they care about him and one woman? I guess you can argue some of his shittiness was the Markers and Brethren Moons getting to him but that's never really shown in-game. I recall him constantly trying to posture and be all shitty towards Isaac of course which was just stupid considering the circumstances. He also chooses to not tell Carver what exactly is going on either, arguing that its classified information to tell him about necromorphs which is stupid af when a necromorph outbreak was already going on. I remember in the prequel to DS3 comics that he tells Ellie to deal with Carver (a fter Carver was forced to kill his family that was turned into necromorphs on Uxor) as ''she likes basket cases'' which is just insanely callous to both Carver and Ellie herself and makes you question what she even sees in him. He's supposed to be this hardass, military leader dude but instead he always just came across as a massive dick. I think Norton in general was just a bad idea for a character.
